Kylie to return to Neighours

Kylie Minogue will reportedly appear in Neighbours next year as the Autralian soap gets set to celebrate its 30th anniversary.

Kylie became a household name back in the 80’s when she played feisty, outspoken car mechanic Charlene (Mitchell) Robinson, before launching a music career which seen her gain global success.

Charlene has also been regularly mentioned in scripts over the past few months following the introduction of her son Daniel, who Minogue was surprised by in a humorous moment on The One Show in May.

More recently, Minogue’s former co-star Anne Charleston – who played her mother Madge Bishop – added fuel to the fire by tipping the singer to be part of the soap’s 30th birthday celebrations.

“The Neighbours special 30th anniversary is coming up. I will probably be involved and it will go to air in March,” Charleston told The Mirror.

“I think Kylie is on board for the special and I imagine everyone will be in on it because it’s a big occasion.

“I look on those days with fondness and there is no way in hell I’d walk away from the special because it’s a celebration and I think we should all be involved in it.”

Madge is dead, so it’s possible that Anne may have been referring to off-screen celebrations when talking about her own involvement – but rumours are heating up that she could have let something slip about a possible Charlene return.

A Neighbours spokesperson refused to be drawn on the Minogue rumours when approached, saying: “We don’t comment on speculation.”
