The Wet Carpet: Great Gatsby opens Cannes Film Festival in the rain

The Cannes Film Festival is known for it’s glitz, glamour, celebrities and movies, but last night it came with torrential rain.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan were among the celebs determined not to let the rain dampen the screening of their iconic 20s movie, The Great Gatsby.

Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of F Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel opened this year’s Cannes Film Festival, and Hollywood’s elite donned their glitziest gowns and sharpest suits for the occasion.

DiCaprio, Mulligan and Nicole Kidman were among the A List stars who were left drenched and clutching onto umbrellas for dear life on Wednesday night as they made their way across the sodden red carpet.
