Chris Martin does Oasis

CHRIS MARTIN has a long memory when it comes to famous hecklers.

LIAM GALLAGHER delivered one of the best put-downs in music history when he called the COLDPLAY frontman “a plant pot” at the Q Awards in 2005.

But Chris finally had a pop back at the BEADY EYE rocker at a charity gig at London’s Boogaloo pub on Wednesday – following a six-year wait.

He justified his latest soppy new track Wedding Bells by saying it was payment for putting up with abuse from his former OASIS chart rival.

Chris said: “This is a soppy song. I apologise but it’s what Coldplay is all about, and it has made me mill… very happy. Hey, I’ve got to get paid for all the abuse I get from people like Liam Gallagher.”

Chris gets stick for being a right-on, yoga-loving frontman but he’s got a big heart when it comes to helping pals.

He flew from New York to London to play a three-song set at the pub before catching a return flight.

He turned up to raise cash for the funerals of ex-Boogaloo landlord JOHN PARKHOUSE and his wife JUNE, who died close together.

When the pub found they didn’t have enough to pay for the pair’s send-off, old regulars Chris, TV’s ANT AND DEC and actor SIMON PEGG began to raise money.

After Chris finished Wedding Bells he asked for requests. Wonderwall came back and he obliged, but only after pulling the heckler on stage too.

The entire pub sang along, with Ant and Dec prompting the lyrics. Chris ended with his band’s Green Eyes with Simon on harmonica.

After the gig Chris joked how he’d lost countless hours sitting at the Boogaloo when he was a loser – and that little had changed.

I’d disagree – there’s no shame in being a genuinely kind plant pot…
