The Staurday’s Mollie King ready to drop solo single

Mollie King is ready to step away from The Saturdays and release her own solo material.

Mollie, who was part of the girl group before their ‘hiatus’ in 2014, is all fired up, ready to release of her debut solo single this Friday.

‘Back to You’ is out on August 19 via Island Records and will have a video shot by Lisa Gunning.

“It’s a very personal song to me,” said Mollie.

“A lot of my writing inspiration has come from what I’ve been through over the last couple of years.”

“In a band, it’s sometimes difficult to write about personal experiences because there’s a lot of members.

“My solo material is the kind of music that I love, stylistically this is me and I’m saying things that I want to say.”

She even hinted to The Sun that the song is about her split from model David Gandy, adding: “‘Back to You’ is a very personal song to me.

“A lot of my writing inspiration has come from what I’ve been through over the last couple of years.”

She added: “The song is about a relationship that you know isn’t working but [you] keep going back to them because you love them.

“It is about a relationship I had that was in the public eye, but I’ve said everything I want to say about it in the lyrics to the song.”

Last month, Mollie said that she had been putting her solo debut together for a year and a half, and promised that it would be “very different to what people are expecting” while still being “a pop record”.
