Arg vows to prove everyone wrong

Reality TV star James ‘Arg’ Argent has vowed to get fit and complete the London Marathon in just eight weeks time.

Despite winning a place on the 26-mile run last year, Arg hasn’t quite knuckled down and started training hard until this week.

But after one last Nando’s dinner last night, the wedding singer, 23, has vowed to prove his critics wrong and complete the challenge.

He wrote on Twitter yesterday: ‘Diet n Marathon training starts 2day! How many times ‘av I said this lol.’

He admitted those closest to him aren’t optimistic of his chances of completing the marathon on April 22 to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

He tweeted today: ‘Death of Large Arg n The Tubby Crooner! Lol. Isn’t a single person who believes I’ll complete the LDN Marathon but I’ll prove everyone wrong!’

Running coaches usually recommend people to run regularly for at least a year before taking part in a marathon.

Adidas training expert Keith Anderson told the Daily Star: ‘It’s a gruelling event that requires good endurance.

‘People try to cram in the training or they set off thinking they can run the whole thing and they end up facing a really horrible 10-mile walk at the end.

‘If he’s not trained then everything is going to chafe, everything is going to ache and he’s going to have a miserable day.’

Overweight: Arg was carrying a bit of weight when he filmed scenes of TOWIE earlier this month

Now filming on Series 4 of TOWIE has ended, Arg is free to step up his training.

Hopefully he’ll stay away from his usual haunts at Essex nightclubs Sugar Hut and Faces and fast food as he gets in shape for the big day.

Arg has been open about his weight battle on The Only Way Is Essex and tried a host of diets and fitness regimes to trim down.

He was regularly teased about his plump figure by his best friend and former TOWIE co-star Mark Wright.

Earlier this month, he was spotted running down an Essex beach in just his swimming trunks during the cold snap.

And last week, he was spotted jogging near his home in Buckhurst Hill, Essex.

But given his heavier size, he’s still got some weight to lose over the next two months.

In January, he was spotted chowing down on a kebab and chips after a night out and has also been feasting on fatty foods in recent TOWIE episodes.

Lets hope he manages to resist his fast food cravings until then.

Reality star Jade Goody – the late wife of Arg’s friend Jack Tweed – famously failed to complete the Marathon in 2006 after collapsing after 21 miles.

She later admitted she hadn’t realised how long it was: ‘I didn’t realise how much commitment the marathon was. I had four training sessions, that’s all I did. At most I could run half an hour on a treadmill.’
