Barcelona scouts watch £45m-rated Bale

Barcelona are maintaining their watching brief for Tottenham’s Gareth Bale after scouts attended the 2-0 victory over Aston Villa on Monday night.

Tottenham will demand around £45m if forced into a sale in the summer and Barca are reluctant to pay that.

Real Madrid, AC Milan and Inter are keen.

AC Milan hope to beat Juventus to the signing of Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez but City are showing interest in Milan’s Alexandre Pato.

Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola is a huge admirer of Bale, and sees the 22-year-old as the solution to his left-back conundrum.

The club’s chief scout Albert Valentine travelled to London earlier this month to watch Bale score and star in Tottenham’s 3-1 win at Fulham, underlining the Spanish side’s interest in him.

And the Wales international has also admitted that he is flattered to be linked with the European champions.
