Leicester Riders maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 79-61 win against Worcester Wolves on Saturday to move into second spot in the BBL Championship.

The hosts put in clinical display to register their fourth league win on the spin, while the Wolves slipped to their fourth defeat.

Riders’ head coach Rob Paternostro had his players revved up right from the start and, already 15-13 ahead during the opening quarter, they scored seven of the last eight points in the period to extend their advantage.

Jay Cousinard made four triples from just five attempts before the interval, with the Riders storming into a commanding 50-35 lead by the time they hit the locker rooms.

The break did not disrupt their rhythm as they outscored Worcester 18-10 in the third quarter.

The last quarter was little more than a procession as the Riders coasted to the win, Cousinard finishing with 19 points, while Pavol Losonsky top-scored with an impressive 22 points and centre Barry Lamble did the work on the glass with 10 rebounds.
