BBL: Paternostro praises GB forward Drew Sullivan ahead of Cup clash

As Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders prepare for Friday’s BBL Cup clash at old rivals London Lions, coach Rob Paternostro has paid tribute to his Great Britain forward Drew Sullivan.

The London-born player started all of GB’s games at the Olympics in the summer, and Paternostro credited his side’s recent wins against Durham Wildcats, Newcastle Eagles and Cheshire Jets to the veteran: “It’s great to have Drew Sullivan in your side.

“I thought Drew was the difference in the game at Durham, he continues to make plays on both ends of the floor and has had a fantastic start to the season, he has contributed in every aspect of our play.

“He was sensational again this weekend, his defence and floor game are what keeps us together.

“I don’t think he has even made the team of the week yet, which we all find incredible. If you have watched our games this season you would be hard pressed to find many players in the league that have had more of an impact then he has had.”

Sullivan and his team travel to Crystal Palace on Friday evening looking for their eighth straight win and a place in the BBL Cup semi-final.
