Britain’s Got Talent and The Voice UK set to clash

Britain’s Got Talent and The Voice UK have been scheduled to clash on their respective launch nights.

The BBC earlier today moved The Voice back to 7pm – having been originally pencilled in for 7.15pm – in an apparent attempt to avoid a significant overlap with its talent show rival.

However, ITV has now responded by shifting the Simon Cowell talent show from its original 7.45pm position 15 minutes earlier to 7.30pm.

As it stands, both programmes will go head-to-head for 50 minutes, but there is still time for late changes from each broadcaster.

Britain’s Got Talent’s premiere date, normally in April, has been pushed forward by two weeks this year.

A BBC source told The Guardian: “It is disappointing they chose to launch Britain’s Got Talent on the same day as us. To not even meet us halfway on avoiding any sort of overlap is incredibly competitive.”
