Brother charged with killing ex-EastEnder Star

Police divers are continuing to search for body parts belonging to former EastEnders actress Gemma McCluskie after her brother is charged with her murder.

Tony McCluskie, 35, was formally charged on Saturday night. He will appear before Thames Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

His sister’s headless torso, which was also missing arms and legs, was discovered floating in a canal close to Hackney’s Broadway Market.

Miss McCluskie, 29, disappeared after attending the high-profile opening of the new £650m Royal London Hospital, in Whitechapel, east London on March 1.

She was reported missing to police two days later.

Friends of Miss McCluskie launched extensive searches across east London in a bid to find her.

Former EastEnders co-stars Natalie Cassidy and Brooke Kinsella both appealed on Twitter for help.

Miss McCluskie’s remains were discovered on Tuesday when a member of the public reported a suspicious object in Regent’s Canal.

A post-mortem examination has proved inconclusive.

Tony McCluskie, from Hackney, was arrested on Wednesday and has been accused of killing his sister.

The actress appeared in more than 30 episodes of EastEnders in 2001, playing the role of Kerry Skinner.

Miss McCluskie’s character arrived in Walford as a friend of Zoe Slater and the great-niece of the late Ethel Skinner. She briefly dated Robbie Jackson and got him to propose to her.
