Charlie Hunnam struggled over Fifty Shades Of Grey decision

Fifty Shades of Grey star Charlie Hunnam reportedly struggled over his decision to take the role.

The creator of Charlie Hunnam’s TV show Sons Of Anarchy has revealed that the actor was faced with a difficult decision when it came to starring in Fifty Shades Of Grey.

Speaking to Vulture, Kurt Sutter said he had held “a couple long creative conversations” with Hunnam about the prospect of playing Christian Grey in the adaptation of EL James’s erotic best-seller, but that ultimately Hunnam had taken the role for the right reasons.

“He struggled with it because obviously there’s a lot of noise around that role,” Sutter explained.

“There’s a lot of predetermined expectations. At the end of the day, and my advice to him was, “Look at the material. Don’t look at the history. Don’t look at where it potentially could be going.”

“Look at the material and look at the people you’re working with. If it makes sense, then move forward.”

Hunnam has been the subject of a backlash from fans of James’s book since he and actress Dakota Johnson were cast in the film last month.

However recent rumours that Hunnam is set to quit the role have so far been denied.
