Cole signs one year extension to Chelsea contract

Ashley Cole has committed his future to Chelsea and has signed a one-year extension to his contract, which was set to expire at the end of this season.

The 32-year-old left-back joined the club from their London rivals Arsenal in August 2006, has signed a deal which will see him tied to the Stamford Bridge side until 20138/2014, where he hopes it will give him the chance to add to a long list of honours he has already won with Chelsea.

“I wanted to stay at Chelsea because we are always fighting and challenging for trophies,” the England international told Chelsea’s official website.

That desire and the will to want to win things have not gone.”

The left-back has won the UEFA Champions League and Premier League titles since his arrival to the club in 2006 as well as a host of domestic cup competitions, and he remains hungry for more.

“I have been able to fulfil nearly all my ambitions at Chelsea. I have won the Champions League, the League, I have won FA Cups here but of course you don’t want to stop winning trophies and being at a big club, you are always fighting to win a trophy.

“Being here for seven years and being at Arsenal before that playing for trophies, you never lose that hunger. I wanted to stay at Chelsea because we are always fighting and challenging for trophies. That desire and the will to want to win things have not gone.”
