Damon Albarn to release a new album

Damon Albarn has announced plans to release a new album later this year.

The singer will put out the soundtrack to his English opera Dr Dee in the UK on May 7, ahead of its London run at the Coliseum from June 25.

The live recording of Dr Dee will feature Albarn singing ten tracks from the show.

The star will headline this year’s OneFest with the new collection and has promised fans a “special” performance at the event on April 14.

Albarn said: “I’m really looking forward to the festival; Wiltshire in spring feels like a perfect setting for Dr Dee songs. Some of my favourite musicians are playing with me, it will be special.”

Meanwhile, Albarn will release an album as part of his new band Rocketjuice And The Moon on March 26 and recently debuted the project’s lead track ‘Hey Shooter’.

The musician will also front Blur for their Hyde Park concert to celebrate the London 2012 Olympics in August, with the band promising new music for the show.
