Dannii Minogue and Kris Smith confirm split

Dannii Minogue has confirmed she has split up with the father of her young son.

The former X Factor judge and model Kris Smith jointly announced they have parted ways after four years together – both putting out similar statements on their Twitter pages in the early hours of this morning.

Dannii wrote: ‘It brings me great sadness to tell you that Kris and I have separated.

‘We still care for each other and ask for privacy at this difficult time, in particular for our son Ethan who remains our number one priority.’

She added she was planning to take a break from the micro-blogging site as she adjusts to her new life as a single mother.

She tweeted: ‘Hi Tweet peeps. Needing to retreat for a while. Thank you for your ever loving continued support.’

Model Kris wrote on his page: ‘Dannii and I have a deep mutual love and respect for each other and although things have not worked out we have a gorgeous son together that we both love and implore everyone to respect our privacy at this challenging time.’
