Demi Lovato admits she was nervous about documentary

Demi Lovato has said that she was nervous about opening up for her forthcoming documentary Stay Strong.

The Disney actress and singer admitted that she initially held back when it came to recording her reality series.

Speaking about the factual programme, she told MTV News: “I was most definitely nervous about opening up to the cameras. And I was very hesitant to say certain things, but once I was around them for a while, I felt more comfortable and really opened up towards them.”

Lovato added that she took comfort in the fact she would be giving her fans and critics an education in what it’s like to have an eating disorder and body image problems.

She continued: “My goals for my fans? It’s to really inspire people. That’s all I hope to accomplish. If there is a young girl at home dealing with the same issues that I’m dealing with, I want to be able to reach out to her and tell her that it’s going to be okay.”

The 19-year-old – who made her name in Camp Rock and Sonny with a Chance – dropped out of the Jonas Brothers tour in October 2010 to enter a treatment facility for her physical and emotional issues.

She added: “You know, I speak about a lot of serious issues and I really hope to get awareness out there about the issues that I dealt with. But at the end of the day, I just want people to see what it’s like to be in my shoes.

“I kind of talked about the journey that I’ve been on and I just want people to take away a positive message. It gets better, you know?”
