Empire creator lashes out at Emmy snub

Empire creator Lee Daniels unleashed a four letter attack on Emmy voters after his show was snubbed from this years nominations.

Daniels posted a video on Instagram after hearing the nominations, with a quick message to Emmy voters on behalf of himself and Empire’s cast.

Despite being promoted to play nice by Empire’s Jussie Smollett, the writer-director quipped: “F**k these motherf**kers!”

Taraji P Henson’s nod for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series was the only major nomination for the breakout Fox hit, outside of costuming categories.

Daniels’s own direction on the series was also ignored by Emmy voters, in spite of his status as a two-time Academy Award nominee.

Empire returns for a second season this fall complete with A-List guest stars like Chris Rock, Marisa Tomei, Kelly Rowland and Alicia Keys.

Empire premieres season two on Fox on September 23. E4 airs the show in the UK.
