Fabrice Muamba now talking and recognising people

The fiancee of Fabrice Muamba has thanked people for their prayers after the player’s collapse at White Hart Lane.

The Bolton midfielder is in intensive care at the London Chest Hospital after he suffered a cardiac arrest during the Trotters’ FA Cup quarter-final at Spurs.

The 23-year-old has started speaking again in hospital and is recognising people.

Shauna Magunda, who has a young son with the player, thanked everyone for their support so far.

She tweeted: “All your prayers are working people thank u so so much. Every prayer makes him stronger. To God be the glory.”

Curtis Codrington, who says he is a friend of the player and is one of just 83 people Muamba follows on the social networking site Twitter, said on Monday evening when he was on his way to see Muamba in hospital that the player has spoken.

“Fabrice is speaking and moving,” said Codrington. “He has spoken minimal words in French and English.”
