Geordie Shore’s Charlotte given drink driving ban

Party girl: Crosby described herself as 'fun, loveable, ditzy and laid back' when the show launched last yearGeordie Shore star Charlotte-Letitia Crosby has been given an 18 month ban from the road for drink driving.

The barmaid, 21, was found to be twice over the legal limit when she was arrested on February 11.

The brunette reality star had 71 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when she was pulled over by police on the A690 in Durham.

Appearing in court last Wednesday, Crosby pleaded guilty to a charge of drink driving.

She was given an 18 month ban, £250 fine and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15 and £85 costs.

However, she will be given an 18-week reduction from the ban if she completes a drink driver rehabilitation course before February 2013.

A spokesman for MTV, which produces Geordie Shore, said: ‘MTV is disappointed that Charlotte is the subject of such a charge.

‘Charlotte apologises for her actions and will be embarking on a support programme to address the issue.’

An active Twitter user, Crosby made no mention of her arrest and charges on her micro-blogging site.

In recent weeks, she has been focused on preparing to go Mexican holiday resort Cancun for a new series of Geordie Shore.

Crosby and her castmates will share a luxury villa for five weeks in the town, which is renowned for attracting American college students on their Spring Break.

Kerry Taylor, Senior Vice President, Director of Television at Viacom International Media Networks UK & Ireland said: ‘There has been an overwhelming response to Geordie Shore from our audiences across the globe – both from a ratings perspective and across social media platforms.

‘Love it or hate it, Geordie Shore is irresistibly compelling TV, and the success of the series truly underscores MTV’s ability to create buzz and engage with young ‘millennial’ audiences everywhere.’
