Hot off the heels of Gerard Butler’s exit from rehab, another action star has entered through the revolving doors.

According to his spokesperson, Hawaii 5-0 star Alex O’Loughlin is undergoing ‘supervised treatment for prescription pain medication.’

They told Deadline that the actor developed his ‘issue’ due to a ‘recent shoulder injury,’ like Butler, who was involved in a surfing accident.

It was also revealed that the 35-year-old will be taking a break from the CBS series while he undergoes treatment.

It’s not terrible news for the hit show, however, as Hawaii Five-0’s second season is ahead of schedule so they will be able to complete their full series order as planned.

‘We respect and support Alex’s decision,’ CBS said in a statement.

‘Everyone at CBS Television Studios and Hawaii Five-0 wishes him well and we look forward to his return.’

Australian Alex has a 15-year-old son from a past relationship, Saxon still lives in his father’s native country.

The actor bases himself in L.A. but has been living in Honolulu while filming the hit series.

He split from long-time girlfriend, the Australian actress/singer Holly Valance in February 2009.

And in November 2011 at the GQ Australia Awards, he confirmed he is dating Hawaiian professional surfer and model Malia Jones.

He said of her: ‘I am a very lucky guy and very happy at the moment. She’s amazing.’
