Hearts players to receive January wages by Tuesday

Hearts players should receive their January wages by Tuesday at the latest, after their salaries were processed by Lithuanian bank Ukio Bankas.

The first team squad’s wages fell due on January 16 and, for the first time in four months, look set to arrive with 24 hours of the due date after delays in October, November and December.

Hearts had been warned of possible disciplinary action from the Scottish Premier League if the payments were not made on time.

The league had unlimited sanctions available to them in the event of a default on promises made by the club, including a possible points deduction.

An SPL sub-committee issued the ultimatium to Hearts after a complaint was heard on behalf of the squad from players’ union PFA Scotland on January 4.

Demands that December wages, and interest on overdue October and November salaries, be paid by January 11 were also met.
