How to get Jubilee Nails

Max Factor celebrity nail artist, Zarra Celik, has created an array of exclusive ‘Cool Britannia’ nail art tutorials for us. Featuring a Crown (perfect for Jubilee weekend) Union Jack (ditto the Olympics) and Strawberry design (we’re thinking Wimbledon), these very British nail art looks will take you right through the summer months. Zarra’s favourite? “The Union Jack flag, because it’s so easy to create yet has real impact!”

Simply follow the step by step guides below to create your Jubilee-themed nails, and tweet us a picture of your finished nail art @journo_g

The Crown

  1. The great thing about the crown design is that you can use practically any colour as the base! I like Max Colour Effect Mini Nail Polish in Chilled Lilac
  2. Using a thin nail brush and a white polish, paint the shape of a crown onto the nail as neatly as possible adding a small dot at the tip of each crown point as a finishing touch.
  3. Next, using Max Factor Max Colour Effect Mini Nail Polish in Ruby Tuesday and Max Factor Max Colour Effect Mini Nail Polish in Odyssey Blue line the base of the crown with dots, alternating the colours.
  4. Finish with a coat of Max Factor Nailfinity Top Coat over the whole nail.

The Strawberry

  1. Paint two coats of Max Factor Max Colour Effect Mini Nail Polish in Ruby Tuesday over the whole nail.
  2. Dip a thin nail brush into Max Factor Max Colour Effect Mini Nail Polish in Cactus Green and outline the shape of the green leaf by drawing different size triangles and fill in to the cuticle of the nail.
  3. Next, using a Max Factor Max Colour Effect Mini Nail Polish in Soft Toffee and a thin nail paint small lines over the red section of the nail distributing evenly.
  4. Finish with a coat of Max Factor Nailfinity Top Coat over the whole nail.

The Union Jack

  1. Dip a thin nail brush into Max Factor Max Colour Effect Mini Nail Polish in Ruby Tuesday, and paint a stripe down the middle of the nail. Once dry, paint two diagonal stripes in opposite directions, in the shape of an ‘X’.
  2. Next, using Max Factor Max Colour Effect Mini Nail Polish in Odyssey Blue paint triangles in between the red stripes.
  3. Using a white nail striper, outline the edge of your red stripes and in between the blue triangles.
  4. Finish with a coat of Max Factor Nailfinity Top Coat over the whole nail.
