Ian Somerhalder talks ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ possibilities

Ian Somerhalder has once again suggested he would be willing to take on the coveted role of Christian Grey in the movie adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey.

The Vampire Diaries actor has remained a top choice to play Christian Grey for many fans of the erotic novel, and based on  his portrayal of the sexy, moody vampire Damon Salvatore, DYRT readers would also agree with the choice.

Earlier this year, Somerhalder dismissed reports that he was set for a lead role in the upcoming film, assuring fans via Twitter that he is “not desperate” to be involved with the film.

However, at the 2012 Environmental Media Awards on Saturday (September 29), Somerhalder revealed that he understands the appeal of the book.

He told E!: “I think that’s going to be a very interesting story to tell… It seems like whoever plays that role, it will be very interesting rehearsal time… the audition process is gonna be interesting.”

Somerhalder did not confirm or deny whether he was up for auditioning, but when asked who he would want to play his leading lady, he answered: “My Anastasia? I don’t know… there are too many [good Hollywood actors] to name.”

Author EL James recently refuted claims that Ryan Gosling was the number one pick to play the lead role in the film.

Development on the 50 Shades of Grey movie continues this year.
