The BBC journalist is set to quit the jungle amid health fears over his increasingly gaunt appearance.

Michael’s wife, Christine, arrived at Brisbane Airport shortly before making an appearance on last night’s show alongside her husband, while she participated in a jungle task.

Speaking to the Express, Christine shared her concern regarding his plummeting weight.

“He works at keeping in shape, going in the gym, and he walks a lot,’ she said. ‘But he hasn’t any spare flesh on him. I’ve been a bit worried he hasn’t a lot of spare capacity.“He was low key in the beginning, quieter than at home. Michael likes his own company so it has taken him a while to settle in.

“But the last programme I saw, he was getting into the group dynamic. You are seeing more of the real Michael now.”

TOWIE star Gemma was the first celebrity to leave the jungle, quitting after just three days.

Craig Charles was forced to leave the jungle days later, after being given the news that brother Dean had suffered a fatal heart attack.
