Kyle Lafferty to have scan after back injury

Rangers forward Kyle Lafferty is to have a scan on his back after a muscle spasm forced him out of Sunday’s match against Kilmarnock.

Lafferty was taken off after 40 minutes in Rangers’ 1-0 loss  on Sunday, will have a scan after suffering a back spasm during the match at Rugby Park. However, McCoist stressed that the examination is purely a precaution.

The forward was not part of the squad that flew out to Germany for a friendly against Hamburg, and is among a number of first team players who have been left behind.

Carlos Bocanegra misses out with a hamstring injury, with Alejandro Bedoja having suffered a gash to the leg.

“We may have Bocanegra back [for the weekend], ” McCoist said. “Bedoya’s injury is just a kick.”

Steven Davis and Dorin Goian have not been risked. Nikica Jelavic also has a “niglling” injury but is expected to be fit for the match against Dunfermline on Saturday.
