Mark Zuckerberg marries longtime girlfriend

Mark Zuckerberg has married his longtime girlfriend Priscilla Chan.

The Facebook founder and CEO updated his relationship status to ‘married’ on the social network following yesterday’s ceremony.

 

The couple, who met at Harvard and have been together for nine years, tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at Zuckerberg’s house in Palo Alto, California.

Fewer than 100 guests attended the surprise event. They thought they would be celebrating Chan’s May 14 graduation from University of California, San Francisco medical school, but the pair had been planning the wedding for more than four months, People reports.

A company spokeswoman said Zuckerberg designed the ring, which featured “a very simple ruby”.

Guests ate food from the couple’s favourite restaurants, Palo Alto Sol and Fuki Sushi, and had Burdick Chocolate ‘mice’ for dessert, which the couple had on their first date.

Zuckerberg’s marriage comes just days after Facebook’s historic public offering on the Nasdaq stock exchange on Friday.
