Matt Lapinskas and Shona McGarty in Dancing on Ice Twitter row

Dancing on Ice runner-up Matt Lapinskas and ex Shona McGarty reportedly split on good terms last month, however it would seem things have turned sour after the pair had a Twitter spat after the DOI final.

Tension between the former EastEnders co-stars became public after McGarty congratulated Beth Tweddle for her victory over Lapinskas on the ITV skating contest.

McGarty, best known for her role as Walford’s Whitney Dean, tweeted: “Well done to Beth for winning dancing on ice!!!!;) xxx.”

Appearing to interpret the message as a dig at him, Lapinskas responded by saying: “Childish! True colours! I feel embarrassed for you.”

Lapinskas later deleted the comments and made an apology for the outburst.

He said: “Emotions were high I do apologise for that tweet! Had an amazing time on @dancingonice love every one here!”

Meanwhile, McGarty tweeted her former partner directly before clarifying her support of Tweddle.

She told Lapinskas: “The journey in between what you once were, and who you are now becoming, is where the dance of life really takes place. Xxxx”

Addressing all of her followers, the 21-year-old added: “Just to clarify, myself and Beth, both got on really well. I thought saying well done was ok?;/ x #notadigatall.”

McGarty split from Lapinskas at the end of last month after 18 months together.

The pair met on the set of EastEnders after Lapinskas joined the soap’s cast as Anthony Moon.
