Nu Vibe exit X Factor – but vow to stick together

It was going to be hard for them to come back after judge Gary Barlow’s stinging “No Vibe” putdown, and Nu Vibe exited The X Factor tonight after being in the bottom two alongside Frankie Cocozza.

There was a shock when it was revealed Frankie was in the bottom two, though Nu Vibe’s inclusion had been more expected.

Tulisa said before the sing-off: “I’m so disappointed tonight, I had so much belief in the boys.”

There was a nod to former X Factor judge Cheryl Cole as the boys sang her song Promise This – which turned out to be their last song on the show.

Mentor Tulisa was always going to back her group when it came to the vote. Gary backed his act Frankie, while Kelly and Louis both opted to send Nu Vibe home.

Gary said: “I can’t believe we’re looking at Frankie still on stage here.”

Kelly was next, and said: “This is so hard. The act I’m sending home tonight is Nu Vibe.”

Tulisa said: “I think it’s pretty obvious. It’s a shame, but the act I’m sending home is Frankie.”

Louis explained: “Neither act had a really good last night. I’m going to save the act which has the most potential. The act I’m going to have to send home is Nu Vibe.”

That was it, and the boys looked disappointed to be sent home. However, they said they would stick together.

Crying afterwards, Tulisa said: “I believe in them, I took a chance, they worked hard and took a chance. I can’t say what went wrong, I still believe in them.

“Just keep going, all of them are such talented people, and they deserve it.”

Last night Nu Vibe performed a soaring version of U2’s With Or Without You.

They were first on and tried to make the anthemic song their own with a load of harmonies thrown into the mix, standing on pillars to deliver the song.

Tulisa had talked to the band about their lack of team ethic after last week’s show, when they narrowly avoided being booted off the show.

Gary had said after their performance: “Nu Vibe – sorry guys, but no vibe for me. At this stage of the competition I’d be expecting to hear vocals a lot tighter than this.”

It was the first time this series that the public had a chance to have their say on who should stay and who should go.

They had been given a second chance at the final stage of Bootcamp when the judges decided to put them into a group – and Nu Vibe was formed.
