Oscars 2013: Ben Affleck gets emotional as Argo takes home Best Picture

Ben Affleck was overcome with emotion as he received his crowning Oscar glory last night, taking home the top prize of Best Picture for Argo.

Ben’s moment was not without controversy as the actor/director was overlooked by The Academy in the Best Director category – much to the dismay of many of Hollywoods elite.

Ben’s voice cracked as he thanked his wife Jennifer Garner for working on their marriage.

Telling her: “It is work but it’s the best kind of work and there is nobody else I would rather do that kind of work with.”

Jennifer’s face showed her pleasure at the public acknowledgement of her contribution to her husband’s award.

Affleck also thanked his children, Violet, Sam and Sera’, dedicating his award to them.

Ben and his co-producers George Clooney and Grant Heslov received a standing ovation as they took to the stage to collect the night’s biggest award for the movie.

The film is based on the true story about a CIA operative who helped to rescue six American embassy employees during the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis.

The gong was presented by the U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama via live satellite from the White House in Washington D.C.
