Perez Hilton wants to judge US X Factor

Perez Hilton hosts a celebrity tweet up at TAO Nightclub in Las VegasPerez Hilton has posted an open letter to Simon Cowell stating why he would be the perfect choice to join the X Factor USA judging panel for its second season.

In the video, the celebrity blogger cited his 4.5 million followers on Twitter, the millions of fans who visit his website, his radio shows and his interest in music as reasons why Cowell should consider him for the Fox singing competition.

Hilton said: “Most importantly I am a huge music lover and I bring with my a lot of experience and expertise in the world of music. I have been a huge champion and early supporter of such artists as Lady GaGa, Katy Perry, Adele and Amy Winehouse.”

Hilton continued to reveal what viewers would get if he was chosen as an X Factor judge.

“I’m just going to me and I’m so fabulous – in case you couldn’t tell – and fun and self-deprecating!” he said. “I’m going to keep it real, I’m not going to try to be like anybody else. I’m going to be me and be honest. That’s not necessarily being mean or necessarily loud, it’s just being the viewer and the expert.”

He added: “I was watching X Factor so much this first season and I was shocked at how often the panel and judges’ mentors were just whitewashing things and feeding the contestants and the audience a bunch of BS. People can smell baloney a mile away.”

Hilton – who said he was willing to screen test or audition for the role – went on to describe himself as a “professional and very easy to work with”, adding that he would give 100% of his salary to charity GLSEN.

“I will do whatever it takes!” he said. “I’m Perez Hilton and I’m your next X Factor judge.”

It was confirmed this week that X Factor season one judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul would not be returning for the second season.

Replacements have yet to be announced, although a recent report suggested that Mariah Carey is one name in the running. The singer had been scheduled to join Cowell at the Judges’ Houses stage during season one until severe weather disrupted her travel plans.

Host Steve Jones has also left the show.
