Russel Brand on destroying iPhone

Russell Brand has spoken about an incident in which he reportedly destroyed a man’s iPhone.

The comedian apparently snatched Timothy Jackson’s cell phone and threw it through a glass window in New Orleans, Louisiana yesterday (March 13).

Jackson was allegedly standing with a group of paparazzi attempting to take pictures of the star before the incident occurred. He later filed a report for criminal damages.

Brand joked that he threw the phone as a tribute to the late Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple.

“Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iphone irreverently,” he tweeted. “What I did was a tribute to his memory.”

New Orleans police are said to be investigating the incident and are looking to speak to Brand in the near future.

The Arthur actor was involved in a scuffle with a photographer at Los Angeles International Airport in 2010. He was originally arrested for battery, but the charge was later dropped.
