Samsung to provide courtside tech for NBA

Samsung has entered a deal with the NBA to provide courtside technology for use during professional basketball games.

The firm’s tablet devices and TV displays will be used by officials to examine close calls after the two companies entered an agreement worth $100 million, reports the Wall Street Journal.

“With this partnership Samsung and the NBA are committed to elevating the future of the game with innovative product and service solutions for the players, coaches, referees and fans,” said Samsung marketing chief Todd Pendleton.

“With these new experiences players will be able to take their game to the next level while fans will be able to engage in new ways with their favourite teams and players.”

The NBA will also work with Samsung to create exclusive content for the NBA League Pass service, a digital subscription package that provides fans with games from outside their local viewing area.
