Shona McGarty denies dumping Matt Lapinskas over DOI partner
EastEnders star Shona McGarty has denied that she dumped her boyfriend Matt Lapinskas over his relationship with Dancing on Ice partner, Brianne Delcourt.
Reports suggested that Shona dumped Matt – who she’d been dating for 18 months – after he bacame too close to his professional partner, Brianne Delcourt.
The actress – who plays Whitney Dean on EastEnders – confirmed reports of her break-up with former co-star Lapinskas, but insisted that the decision had “nothing to do” with Delcourt.
“The headlines are NOT true!! As if I’d let @BrianneTV do that!! X mwah! Much love!! ;),” she wrote on Twitter.
Thanking fans for their support, she added: “Yes its true Matt and I have split but it has NOTHING 2 do with Brianne. Clear head and new beginnings! Mwah xx”
Delcourt, who previously dated former Dancing on Ice co-stars Danny Young and Sam Attwater, also cleared up speculation about her and Lapinskas on her own profile.
“@mattylapinskas and I have become Best Friends….END OF!!!!!!” she said. “He’s been my little angel throughout some tough times this year! Leave us be…He’s my best bud. X”
Lapinskas has not directly commented on the rumours surrounding his love life, but he did refer to Delcourt on Twitter as a “great friend” and wrote on the day before McGarty announced their split that he has “no time for negative people”.
