SPL Weekend Round Up

Celtic’s 17-match winning run came to an end against Aberdeen, while Rangers ended another turbulent week with a loss to Hearts.

Celtic have swept aside everything in their path for the past four months but had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Aberdeen in the early kick-off at Pittodrie, as an Andre Blackman own goal cancelled out Anthony Stokes’ opener and extended the Dons’ unbeaten stretch to nine games.

Rangers, whose administrators this week delayed a decision on possible player redundancies and admitted they need to save £1million a month, suffered a 2-1 defeat against Hearts at Ibrox as Jamie Hammill netted the winning goal.

Third-placed Motherwell are now three points adrift of Gers after Michael Higdon and Henrik Ojamaa struck to secure a 2-0 victory over bottom club Dunfermline.

St Johnstone are 11 points further back in fourth after playing out a goalless draw with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park which saw both sides reduced to ten men in the second half.

There was another 0-0 stalemate at Easter Road, allowing Hibernian to inch a fourth point clear of Dunfermline but extending St Mirren’s run without a win to nine matches.
