Stars congratulate Andy Murray on triumphant US Open Win

Andy Murray won his first Grand Slam title last night, winning the US Open, beating Novak Djokovic in a five-set thriller.

The victory finally handed to the Scot at Flushing Meadows, New York, where the pair battled it out for an astonishing four hours and 54 minutes – just 60 seconds short of the longest ever final in New York.

Many of us back in the UK sat up into the early hours of the morning to watch 25-year-old Andy lift the trophy that made him the first British male to win a slam since Fred Perry 76 years ago.

Stars like Sir Sean Connery, Sir Alex Ferguson, Kevin Spacey and Sir Patrick Stewart were among the celebrities who watched the final inside the stadium last night, with many others taking to Twitter to offer support and congratulations to Murray.
