Taouil an instant hit

Hearts new boy Mehdi Taouil can become instant hit with fans, predicts boss Jim Jefferies

HEARTS boss Jim Jefferies last night tipped Jambos new boy Mehdi Taouil to become an instant hit with the Gorgie faithful.

The Moroccan midfielder left Kilmarnock to sign a three-year deal with the club – and his former Rugby Park gaffer expects him to light up Tynecastle.

Jefferies, who is still on holiday, is delighted with the capture of the 28-year-old and revealed Taouil rejected other offers to join Hearts.

He believes his distinct style and creativity will add a new dimension to the Edinburgh outfit.

Jefferies said: “Hearts supporters like to see special talent and he has that in his locker.

“It’s a step up to a big club for him but if we can get him playing at his best then he is someone the fans will appreciate.

“He’s something a little different to what we have and I’m confident he will be a good addition.

“Mehdi had a few options to join other clubs but I’m delighted to have got him. He is strong, a good passer of the ball and can hold it up well for others.

“He can also bring us something going forward from midfield and it is good to have that sometimes.”

Taouil is the fourth arrival this summer in Gorgie after Jamie Hamill, John Sutton and Danny Grainger all penned deals.
