The Equalizer to get sequel

Sony has officially announced a sequel to the Denzel Washington thriller “The Equalizer.”

Based on the 1980s TV series, “The Equalizer” earned over $192 million at the global box office last year. It was co-financed by Village Roadshow and debuted at the Toronto Film Festival.

Denzel Washington is expected to return for The Equalizer 2 as vigilante Robert McCall, who single-handedly took on a bunch of violent Russian mobsters last time round.

Marton Csokas played the boss of the group and main antagonist Teddy, while Chloë Grace Moretz also starred as teen victim Teri.The Equalizer is based on a TV series, which originally aired on CBS between 1985 and 1989.
