The Muppets named NYC ambassadors

The Muppets’ Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy have been named “family ambassadors” to New York City.

New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg told reporters that Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy will appear in an advertising campaign designed to encourage tourism.

“Having Kermit as a Family Ambassador for New York is pretty exciting and I know it will make other cities – listen carefully – just green with envy,” Mayor Bloomberg said.

The new ad campaign will feature The Muppets offering tips on New York City’s finest restaurants and attractions.

This is the latest in a series of honors for The Muppets, who were given a prestigious star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in March.

A sequel to last year’s hit film The Muppets is apparently in the works, but writer-star Jason Segel will apparently be less involved with the follow-up.
