TOWIE Christmas Single

With two of the TOWIE castmembers being professional singers, it stands to reason that Jessica Wright and James ‘Arg’ Argent would take the lead vocals in the show’s Christmas single.

But what comes as a surprise after seeing the video for the cover of Wham!’s last Christmas is that Lauren Goodger and Gemma Collins have both been awarded solos in the track.

However, despite the duo’s tuneful singing, Jessica was quick to take to Twitter to tell fans that the pair had in fact mimed over her voice.

She wrote:Ha lauren and gemma are miming over my voice on the towie xmas video I keep getting tweets about it. Yes its my voice all way thru 🙂 x x

The video opens with the TOWIE cast making their way to the recording studio to lay down the track, looking festive in their Christmas garb.

Between Jessica and Arg’s singing, footage is shown from the most recent series of TOWIE, with tears and tantrums aplenty as the video revisits the love triangle between Lauren, Mark Wright and Lucy Mecklenburgh.

The video also gives the cast chance to poke fun at one another, with Lauren being asked, ‘How long were you and Mark together?’, before the whole cast chime in and shout, ‘Ten years!’

While Arg says he is looking forward to getting back into his festive jumpers after showcasing his unsual taste in knitwear last December, Sam Faiers admitted she had a different way of celebrating the season, giggling: ‘I can’t wait to get my Christmas vajazzle!’

The video also shows that Lucy Mecklenburgh and Mario Falcone have rekindled their relationship ahead of Christmas, with Mario telling his brunette girlfriend: ‘I don’t care what we do for Christmas as long as I’m with you!’

Giggles all round: Arg, Mario Falcone and Harry Derbidge looked as though they were having fun

The track also features Nanny Pat wishing everyone a Happy Christmas, as well as Joey Essex telling fans to have a reem time.

The TOWIE cast are hoping to clinch the Christmas number one with the cover of Wham!’s festive classic.

But Arg said in a recent interview that he was unsure about how the track would do while competing against the X Factor winner’s single.

Asked if they would be competing against any other tracks, Arg replied: ‘I think there is – I think Nirvana are re-releasing Smells Like Teen Spirit – apparently… I don’t know.’

Proceeds from the single, released on December 18th, will go to the Text Santa charity initiative.
