United Draw Celtic in Quarter-Finals

Dundee Utd have been rewarded with home tie against Celtic in last eight after dumping out Rangers.

CUP favourites Celtic have been drawn in the plumb tie after being paired with Dundee United in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup.

Neil Lennon’s troops know they won’t have it easy at Tannadice after United cruised to a 2-0 win over SPL champions Rangers at Ibrox.

The Tangerines barely broke sweat as goals from Gavin Gunning and Johnny Russell saw off crisis-hit Rangers.

Celtic, on the other hand, booked their spot in the last eight with an easy win at Inverness – thanks to goals from Georgios Samaras and Scott Brown.

Meanwhile, the winners of Hearts clash with St Johnstone will face the victors of the replay between Ross County and SPL side St Mirren.

Derek Adams watched his Division One high-flyers almost snatch a win in Paisley only to see Steven Thompson’s header cancel out Richard Brittain’s early penalty.

Elsewhere, fellow Division One clubs Ayr or Falkirk will have a home tie with Pat Fenlon’s Hibs while Motherwell will take on either Queen of the South or Aberdeen.

Matches will take place on either March 10 or March 11.
