Wenger hints at January signing

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has hinted he will sign a player in January if the right opportunity presents itself.

The Gunners will be without the likes of Marouane Chamakh and Gervinho in the New Year due to the African Cup of Nations.

Wenger is always on the lookout for new talent, although the Frenchman rarely likes to bring in fresh faces in the New Year.

However, he admits they are in a ‘good’ financial situation and they could push through a transfer is a chance arises.

Opportunity

“We lose players like Chamakh and Gervinho to the Africa Cup of Nations so hopefully, touch wood, we do not get any injuries to our strikers,” he said.

“But if an opportunity turns up in that department then we will buy.

“Economically the whole environment has changed and people suffer more. The clubs will suffer more financially and it’s much more difficult.

“Maybe we will have some opportunities because we are in a good financial situation.”
