X Factor: Jay James loses public vote to Stevi Ritchie

Jay James lost his place on the X Factor after the show went to deadlock for the second time this season.

Jay found himself in the bottom two alongside Stevi Ritchie, who despite being the worst singer in the competition, has become a firm favourite to go all the way.

Judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini took the decision to deadlock when she and Mel B voted to send home Jay.

Both Louis and Simon sent home Stevie.

After the sing off Simon said: “I really don’t like doing this but I’m going to send home Stevi.”

“I am going to save the best singer, and I’ve made my decision the person I am going to send home is Stevi,” added Louis.

Mel B shocked with her decision to save Stevie after she repeatedly told him how she didn’t get him orĀ understandĀ the appeal.

“I am confused, Stevi tonight you actually sang, so I have to be honest the person I am sending home is Jay.”

With the final say down to Cheryl, she said: “I think Stevi is the more fun, I would miss him, so I think the person I am sending home is Jay.”

It is the second week in a row that unlucky Jay has ended up in the bottom two, being saved by the public in last weeks show when he was challenged to a sing off against Mel’s act Paul Akister.

The decision was taken to deadlock, with Jay being sent home following the unveiling of the public vote.
