X Factor USA’s Chris Rene Lands Record Deal

LA Reid has signed his X Factor USAprotegé Chris Rene to his record label, it has been confirmed.

Rene, who finished third in the debut season of Simon Cowell’s talent search last month, has been snapped up by Epic Records, reports Entertainment Weekly.

“I’ve dreamt about this moment my whole life,” he said. “And now its here. Working with L.A. Reid — ‘Big Homie’ –  is a dream come true; he’s a great man.”

The series was won by Melanie Amaro, whose record deal is said to be worth $5 million. She’ll also be appearing in a TV advert for Pepsi.

15-year-old rapper Astro, who was eliminated in the live stages of the contest, features on Cher Lloyd’s new single ‘Want U Back’, which is due to enter the UK Top 40 this coming weekend.

Simon has hinted that Rene and runner-up Josh Krajcik, mentored by Nicole Scherzinger, should be able to land recording contracts.
