Cameron Diaz walks out on interview over Drew Barrymore comment

Cameron Diaz cut short an interview after one of the hosts referred to Drew Barrymore’s past drug problems.

The interview with KIIS 106.5’s Kyle and Jackie O Show started well however after one of the hosts referred to Drew Barrymore’s past drug problems, Cameron cut short the interview and made clear she was not impressed by the comments.

During a chat to promote new movie Sex Tape, Jackie O suggested that Giselle Eisenberg, who plays the daughter of Diaz’s character in the film, is reminiscent of a young Drew Barrymore in ET.

After Diaz had agreed, co-host Kyle Sandilands said: “Let’s hope she misses out on the Drew Barrymore drug years, because those were a great thing to watch, but not so good to be in, I’d imagine.”

Jackie O tried to gloss over the comment, but Diaz interjected: “I’m sure, Kyle, you’ve never been through a drugs phase, have you? Or alcoholism or anything like that? Pretty clean; always did it right? Congratulations.”

The interview then proceeded for a brief time, with Sex Tape co-star Jason Segel answering a question about his body, but Diaz soon said: “We’re having to go now. Sorry, they’re wrapping us up.”

When the stars had departed, Jackie O expressed her annoyance at Sandilands’ words, saying: “Well, that started very well and ended poorly, I think. Good one, Kyle… You ruined that interview. Sorry to be blunt, but you did.

“You brought up Drew Barrymore, her best friend’s drug addiction in the past. She’s her best friend. And then you brought up Benji [Madden, Diaz’s boyfriend]. We all know how protective Cameron is about her private life.”

Sandilands, however, was unrepentant, responding: “Maybe they should’ve just bought ads if they wanted to sell the movie.”
