Everyone Loves Raymond star commits suicide

Everybody Loves Raymond star Sawyer Sweeten has died, aged 19.

The actor is thought to have committed suicide on Thursday while visiting family in Texas.

Sawyer appeared in Everybody Loves Raymond in the role of Geoffrey Barone, alongside his twin brother Sullivan (Michael Barone) and his real-life sister Madylin (Ally Barone).

Their older sister Madylin also played their older sister Ally on the show.

“This morning a terrible family tragedy has occurred. We are devastated to report that our beloved brother, son, and friend, Sawyer Sweeten, took his own life. He was weeks away from his 20th birthday,” said Madylin in a statement.

“At this sensitive time, our family requests privacy and we beg of you to reach out to the ones you love.”

Sawyer was only 16 months old when he first started on the CBS sitcom in 1996 and starred in 139 episodes through till 2005.

Ray Romano, Patricia Heaton, Brad Garrett, Doris Roberts, Peter Boyle and Monica Horan also appeared in the series.

Madylin paid tribute to her brother on Facebook, saying: “At this time I would like to encourage everyone to reach out to the ones you love. Let them have no doubt of what they mean to you.”
