New healthier coca cola to be released in UK

Coca-Cola has announced plans to launch a new version of coke with less sugar and fewer calories as part of government and industry efforts to tackle obesity.

Life contains a third less sugar and calories than the original.

The new installment of beverage – in green labelling – will go on sale in Britain in September after a pilot in Argentina and Chile.

Coca-Cola Life is sweetened with sugar and stevia leaf extract.

A 330ml can will contain 22.1 grams of sugar – 25 per cent of an adult’s guideline daily amount (GDA).

This is a dramatic slash on the 35 grams found in a regular Coke.

Life is the first new Coca-Cola since Coke Zero was launched in 2006.
