The Saturdays Interview

The Saturdays are five feisty ladies…Frankie, Mollie, Una, Vanessa and Rochelle have gone all ‘gangsta’ for their latest single ‘Notorious’ and it seems they have ruffled a few feathers in the process – namely chart topper Example, who had a go at the girls earlier this month.

Standing up for herself and band mates, an angry Rochelle Wiseman said the 29-year- old, singer/rapper should stop hiding behind a computer and say what he thinks to their face, something he had the opportunity to do not so long ago.

“Example slated us for the lyrics of Notorious. He said we were trying to act like gangsters but we were with him last week in a changing room with just a divider between us and he was like a mouse.

“There’s no point in slating us if he can’t do it to our faces.”

And it seems Rochelle isn’t the only one with a message for the ‘Changed The Way You Kissed Me’ singer.

Vanessa suggested that Example – real name Elliot Gleave – is all talk and he only disses bands like them to create controversy and get publicity for himself.

Una on the other hand thinks Example needs to be sat down, bum smacked and have the air cleared – she’s even willing to send him the girls album for Christmas.

“We’ve written loads of good songs and maybe if he bought one of our albums, he’d see that. Maybe for Christmas we’ll send him an album,” said the Irish ……

“I think we should speak to him. We’ve never been ones to hold back and I’d like to see what he’s got to say for himself.”

There is no doubt that this feisty 5some mean business, and that’s exactly what they have on their mind. Gearing up for their biggest tour to date, while promoting their forthcoming single, Notorious -The Sats are one busy girl group.

“It’s just amazing, that’s the only word for it really. It’s so exciting and something we’ve always dreamed of,” said Frankie. “We got our first big break when we supported Girls Aloud on shows of this size and we never thought that we would get this far in our wildest dreams.”

“We’ll be pulling out the tricks so more costumes, more dance routines and lots of sparkles! All we know is that we want to fly at some point in the show.”

Talking about their new single ‘Notorious’ the girls have said it’s something quite different to their previous stuff – a more clubbier sound – and despite the rants of Example, the girls love it and they hope their fans do too.

Recording in the studio, promoting their single, organising the tour and learning to fly (something Frankie wants to do in the ‘All Fired Up’ tour) posing for pics…when do these girls get time to see their boyfriends (yes, sorry to break it to you boys, all but one (Vanessa 😉 ) of The Sats are taken)

Mollie, who is dating Dolce & Gabanna model David Gandy, recently told more! Magazine that her current fella is only her fourth snog. Speaking about her new man, Mollie went on to say: “He makes me laugh.

And he’s really grounded. I like the fact that when we’re together we never really talk about work. I don’t want someone who’s obsessed with this world. I also love kissing.

I feel like it’s really intimate and very special. I’ve only kissed four boys in my life.”

She went on to say: “People keep saying to me, ‘Oh, well done Moll,’ like I’ve achieved something. But if the rest of the girls are there, they say, ‘He’s done well, actually.’ I’m like, ‘Yeah! You go girls!'”

Mollie wasn’t the only one spilling the beans on her love life.

Bandmate Frankie told more! she doesn’t see boyfriend Wayne Bridge as a stereotypical footballer.

“You can’t ever say for sure that someone would never do that, but Wayne’s different. We don’t hang out with other  players, and I’m not really interested in being a WAG. We’ve both had past relationships that were in the public eye. This is more private, and so much nicer.”

Rochelle revealed that despite their November split, she and JLS singer Marvin are “happier than ever”.

“We’re really good. I think in every long-term

relationship  you go through things that test you, and sometimes you need that to realise what you’ve got. And that’s what happened with us when we had our break. We were so busy at the time, we didn’t think we’d be able to see each other. We’re solid now, and that’s all that matters. We’re happier and stronger than we ever were.”

So boys, if you want to bag yourself a Saturday you need to know the following:

  • how to make a girl laugh
  • how to kiss
  • how to play football
  • make time for her
  • listen to what she has to say (even if its not all that interesting)
